Linux/Qtopia Freeware Projects

I have a Compaq iPAQ handheld computer, later a Zaurus SL-5000 (won with kgrok at a Sharp programming contest), and now a Zaurus SL-6000. The iPAQ ships with WinCE but I reinstalled it with Linux (from handhelds.org) and Trolltech's Qtopia GUI system. This system is superior to WinCE because it's free, fully published, easily configured and extended, and a community of free and commercial applications is building. Sharp is now offering various Zaurus models that run Linux/Qtopia natively and have a host of unique features such as a slide-out keyboard, and CF and SD slots. This page lists my freeware projects for this platform. All are available free of charge under the GNU Public License (GPL).

KGrok - Palmtop Database

KGrok is a palmtop database manager, designed for Linux PDAs. It reads ``applications'', which are simple configuration files that morph KGrok's GUI and behavior to perform a wide variety of database functions:

  • phone and address database
  • annotated photo viewer
  • expense tracker
  • simple music archiver and player
  • crypto notepad
  • shopping list manager
  • todo list database

Custom applications can be implemented with simple configuration scripts.

OTP Keygen - OTP Password Generator

Many hosts on the Internet allow login with telnet and SSH only after a special challenge-response protocol that prevents fixed passwords from traveling over public wires. OTP Keygen computes the one-time passwords required for logging in to these systems.
